Attorney Julia Chidley is a partner at the firm, specializing in divorce law, child placement, guardianships, family mediation, restraining orders, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, business law, probate, debtor-creditor relationships, and real estate law. Her passion is litigation.
A magna cum laude graduate of Marquette University Law School, she was on the Dean’s List every semester, and, because of her distinguished academic achievements, she received a Marquette Law School scholarship for two consecutive years.
While in law school, Julia also earned three Computer Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI) awards for achieving the highest grades in her class in classes for Laws of Remedies; Parent, Child, and State; and Criminal Process. She also served as a member and an associate editor for Marquette Law Review. Julia served as a legal extern for the domestic violence unit of the Criminal Litigation division at the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
Prior to and during law school, she worked as a paralegal for a general practice law firm for five years, gaining intense hands-on practical experience in the legal areas of probate, criminal law, personal injury, bankruptcy, and family law.
She is admitted to the Wisconsin Bar and to the Eastern and Western Federal Districts of Wisconsin.
Julia was invited as a speaker on grandparents’, step-parents’, and other third parties’ child-related rights at the WPHA 2016 Annual Conference; as a guest speaker, she taught classes on family law to the paralegal program at Madison Area Technical College.
In addition to her legal training, Julia obtained a certificate in grief therapy through the American Institute of Healthcare Professionals. This training provides her with the ability to better understand and help her clients and their families deal with the emotional challenges of their legal situation.
She is a Supplemental Court Commissioner for Jefferson County.
Julia is married and has a daughter. Julia is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian languages. She enjoys hiking, hot yoga, camping, bowling, Wild West reenactments, and traveling.
